There was predictably little excitement for a jewellery show. How many sets of diamond necklaces and pearl earrings can you look at before they become a blur, right? Guess the designers themselves realised this and chose to add something that would keep the audience awake. Bollywood!
From Queenie Singh’s show, which had the ridiculously fit Malaika Arora Khan pouting and preening like she was born on the catwalk to Raj Mahtani bringing back Raveena Tandon, all decked up in a black bodysuit, black stockings and a sky-scraping hairdo.
Not to be outdone, Maheep Kapoor brought along her own bandwagon of friends, from Chunky Pandey’s wife Bhavna to Ira Dubey and showstopper Sonakshi Sinha. With clothes designed by Seema Khan, this really was a Khan family night out. Each of the ladies got a rousing round of applause from the audience, who probably didn’t even notice the jewels. It was all about glitz and glamour rather than the bling.
Karan Johar and Varun Bahl’s show was next up. Rani Mukherjee, Preity Zinta, Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Twinkle Khanna and countless more decorated the front row, sending the photographers into flashbulb frenzy. The clothes were dapper and sharp -
