When the entire fashion industry is feeling the pinch of recession, Delhi Fashion Week (DFW) will be taking the collection of its designers to Middle East to find new markets.
Named '12', the two-day exhibition scheduled Jan 18-19 will take place at Al-Bastakia in Dubai. Entry will be by invitation only.
"We need to get innovative and start marketing our fashion products in the right markets. This season with the downturn affecting the fashion business, we, as organisers, have to think out of the box to reach out to areas that have potential for future growth for our designers," DFW's head Sumeet Nair said in a statement here Monday.
"This is a step in taking an established world class interactive platform for designers and buyers to neighbouring regions and new markets, thereby strongly supporting the Indian fashion industry during this economic crisis," he added.
Organised by the Fashion Foundation of India (FFI), this initiative is one more step towards their commitment to promoting Indian designers.
"FFI is committed to introducing new initiatives each season to help grow the fashion industry and we are sure that this will really help Indian designers to grow their business," the foundation's spokesperson Meera Ali said.
