Not going out of town doesn’t mean you miss out on the holiday fun. This Independence Day, shop till you drop. Restaurants and fashion outlets across the Capital have marked the occasion of the 65th year of Independence with special discounts and offers for the day, in addition to the already hit monsoon sales.

All day Monday, fashion label Kazo will have 60% off on all items. At Indian-wear outlets Biba and US Polo Association, there will be a 40% discount. Clothing chain Chhabra 555 will also offer a price cut of up to 50%. “We’re offering this discount particularly for Independence Day; it’s something that will make all our customers happy,” says Asheeta Chhabra of Chhabra 555, adding that she’s hoping the discount will lead to bulk sales on the day.

Apparel brand Blackberrys is upping their ongoing monsoon discount of 40% to 50% for tomorrow. “The response has been tremendous so far, and there is a huge increase in footfall. The sale is better this week, compared to the last two weeks,” says Yogesh Tiwari of the brand, which has an ongoing season sale of up to 40% and is offering a flat 50% discount tomorrow. Also on till tomorrow is Big Bazaar’s Independence Day special Maha Bachat Sale.

Foodies can also look forward to pigging out on discounts. For instance, 21 Gun Salute in Gurgaon has a special menu and a 10% discount, while hotels in Paharganj such as Ajanta Hotel and Hotel Delhi City Centre will have a 20% discount.

Shoppers couldn’t be happier, and are glad they stayed back home. “Some respite from the inflation I guess! Freedom from exorbitant prices is a good idea for August 15,” says Mehul Chanda, a engineer. What better way to spend a national holiday than by saving money and shopping!” says Anumeet Jain, 19.
