Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard chose simple yet elegant outfits for her recent maiden visit to India.
She had the fashion police coming after her, back home a few years ago, with unflattering fits and dull colours that didn’t do much for her complexion. But the 51-year-old Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard has been honing her style since then. The lady, who was on a three day visit to India kept it simple yet elegant on various public appearances that she made in the Capital.
Gillard has a thing for white jackets and wore them to the best effect. She also wore a smart tangerine one with a bow, which many believe, is her lucky charm. She almost got it right with the jackets but we do wish if had done away with those super large lapels and cuffs.
Gillard also deserves praise for being a recyling pro. Most of the outfits that she wore in India have been worn by her on various tours and public appearances. She also loves Australian designers with names such as Anthea Crawford, Carla Zampatti and Aurelio Costarella topping her favourites list. Gillard stood out as she wore all three for the Will-Kat wedding last year.
Getting experimental
She wore a black jacket with polka dots to the Australian Parliament in 2010. A brave pick for a newly-apppinted PM. Gillard went colour blocking with a red jacket and blue muffler at a match in Australia. She added some retro chic with a pink hat, pink cami, white jacket and a pink scarf around her wrist at the second test match between Australia and India
