Seek inspiration from these menswear trends that dominated international ramps this season.

The recently concluded fashion weeks in London (UK), Milan (Italy), Paris (France) and New York (USA) — from January 8 to February 4 — showcased the best of menswear for the coming seasons. From feminine silhouettes and sensitive fabrics, to experimentation with prints, designers went all out to show the scope of men’s clothing.

Shiny fabric

Subtle is so old-fashioned. Get into the swing of things with fabrics that have an inherent shine. Katie Eary and Dolce & Gabbana, among others, swore by it this season. Opt for it by sporting a silk shirt or go for trousers created from high-shine fabrics.

For Roberto Cavalli, Gucci and Valentino, nightwear is no longer for the night. If worn with the right attitude, it can look equally natty during the day. At least that’s what the ramp trends say.

Feminine angle

From transparent shirts and floral prints, to long bows and pinks, it won’t be wrong to say that the season was high on feminine and androgynous looks. JW Anderson generously used muted, icy tones while Gucci opted for lace and silk.

The ’70s touch

The ’70s never fail to fascinate and inspire. Designers have made that era their muse for collections time and again. This season, too, saw traces of it on the ramp. Showcasing modern interpretations of the look were Gucci, JW Anderson and Marni, among others.

Prints

Bold prints have been making a statement for a while now, and it seems the trend is in no mood to die down in the near future. Moschino, Calvin Klein and Timo Weiland showcased a graphic wave this season.

Velvet

A mark of understated opulence, velvet is suited for evening wear. Yet, designers never fail to experiment with it. This season, Fendi, Alexander McQueen and Helen Anthony, among others, showcased their versions of velvet.

Baggy trousers

Stripes

Leopard print
