Finally we found him. Rahul Reddy is the new star at this season’s Fashion Week. What I liked about his collection was his ability to intermingle texturisation and interpretation of the same in his designs.

Silhouettes looked easy going with his garments staying comfortably away from the body. Colours were easy on the eye and the finishing was impeccable. The footwear blended well with his collection, one of the very few I really noticed. Yes, I think Rahul is the man! When it comes to selecting the right footwear, most designers failed. In fact, the whole idea of accessorisation seems to have been paid little attention.

While newcomers offered a wide range of intelligently crafted garments, most of them failed to understand that it is not just the garments but appropriate head-to-toe accessorisation that holds the key to their success. There was a time when fashion weeks used to be dominated by the so-called big names in the industry, but not anymore.

Blinding metallic tones and vibrant hues (something the designer is well-known for) came in the form of creations bordering on outlandish. Footwear too was impeccable and pounding music matched the show. Rajesh Pratap Singh, on the other hand, made sure that this time, design means creativity.

His painstakingly crafted outfits — mostly in black with a fair sprinkle of electric blue and orange hues — came in the form of dresses and hooded tops with plenty of pintucks. Various forms of the pintucks is something Rajesh is well known for. He is the master and once again he went on to prove that.
