New York has regained the crown of world fashion capital of 2010, wresting the title from Milan in an annual survey which sees Mumbai and Delhi falling out of the top 20.
While Mumbai finds itself in the 28th position, Delhi is in the 30th spot in the Global Language Monitor’s annual global survey. Last year, Mumbai was in the 16th place and New Delhi 17th while in 2008, the two cities were in 22nd and 24th spots respectively.
Milan, which ended New York's five-year reign as the top fashion capital in the annual survey last year, has been relegated to the sixth spot.
Following New York are Hong Kong, London, Paris, Los Angeles, Milan, Sydney, Miami, Barcelona and Madrid.

The world fashion business is estimated to be over USD three trillion.
This year, the list was expanded to 40 from 30 to reflect the various emerging and diverse players affecting the industry.
Hong Kong's second place is the highest ranking ever for an Asian city and it is for the first time that the number two spot goes to anyone other than the classic four - New York, Paris, London and Milan.
The other Asian cities in the top 40 are Shanghai (12), Tokyo (14), Singapore (15), Dubai (21), Bali (32) and Bangkok (35).
This ranking was based on GLM’s predictive quantities index, a proprietary algorithm that tracks words and phrases in print and electronic media, on the Internet and throughout the blogosphere. The words and phrases are tracked in relation to their frequency, contextual usage and appearance in global media outlets.
