This season’s debuting models at WIFW tell you what it takes to make the cut.

They’re tall, taut, sexy and undeniably chic. These fives girls are a part of the lucky 11 who have strutted their way right to the runways at the Autumn/Winter season of WIFW. After competing with a slew of girls (100+ girls turned up at the models audition held earlier this year in the city), these girls outshone them all on every aspect. Here, they tell exactly how they stood out of the crowd. So, take note and follow their mantras, after all they did work-out quite well for them. So, ladies if you are serious about putting on your heels and sashay in style, read on...

Bhumika Arora, 23
Get fit, not thin “Many girls think that if they’re tall and thin they’ll make the cut. But more than being thin, a good model should be fit. And being fit just doesn’t mean less body fat but it means good muscle definition. Of course, this doesn’t mean you pump up like a body builder. Try a good mix of cardio with weight training for toning. And most importantly listen to an expert!”

Iryna Kalikhevych, 23
Don’t overdose on beauty : “Keep the make-up clean and simple. The jury is looking to see what you look like naturally because during shows they need to be able to mould and re-mould your face with make-up for different shows/looks. They look for a fresh, healthy face not an overtly made-up one. So, yes, less is indeed more.”

Olga Plotnikova, 23
Be confident, not arrogant: “The jury notices everything. If you’re confident in yourself it comes across as you walk infront of them. If you are over confident that too comes across. Being a model is as much about the right attitude as it is about the look. If the judges in the audition see you to be arrogant they won’t consider you. They want girls who are easy to work with.”

Shreiyah Sabharwal, 25
Don’t take it too seriously: “ So you made the cut but don’t let the pressure get to you. The run up to fashion week needs to be fun. Stay relaxed, follow your regular gym routine and diet. Doing something drastic will show on your body. A starving model is no model at all. Fashion week should be about work you enjoy, not about unecessary pressure.
