The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) says Michel Platini has appealed against his six-year ban by Fifa.

CAS says Platini is seeking to annul the sanction confirmed by the Fifa appeal committee last week.

The court did not say if Fifa’s ethics committee, which originally banned Platini for eight years, has also appealed to increase the ban. No hearing date has been set.
Platini was banned for conflict of interest in accepting a $2 million payment from Fifa in 2011, a transaction which was approved by then-president Sepp Blatter.
Blatter has also pledged to appeal his six-year ban at CAS. Both men deny any wrongdoing.
