The incident took place on September 18 in DLF phase 3, Gurgaon.

The accused, identified as Mohit Yadav, had gone missing immediately after the murder of assistant sub-inspector Naresh Yadav.

Yadav, who was arrested from Jaipur after the Gurgaon police team received a specific tip-off on his whereabouts, confessed to the murder during questioning.

The accused will be under remand as the weapon of crime is yet to be recovered, police said.

The accused told the police that he was irritated by his father’s efforts to ‘discipline’ him over time.

He was also angry with his father objecting to his involvement in criminal activities. Yadav is known to have been involved in cases of chain snatching and robbery.

Yadav was even booked in a case of murder but was later acquitted. He has spent time in Bhondsi jail in this regard.

On the day he was killed, the victim Naresh Yadav, had come to Gurgaon on his weekly rest day. He was posted at the Pali police post in Faridabad.

An official of Gurgaon police who has worked with Naresh Yadav said that he was very polite person, for whom his duty always came first.

Despite being from an affluent family, Naresh was very down to earth, he said.

“He was perturbed by the behaviour of his son and he wanted him to mend his ways but he would have never known that the result of his disciplining his son would be fatal,” he added.

Police said Mohit had left home in the wee hours of September 18 immediately after the murder of Naresh Yadav, who was shot with a country-made firearm.

The police had found an empty cartridge from the bedroom where the body was found. The body, which was lying in a pool of blood, was discovered by his wife Sunita, who was sleeping the adjacent room, the police said.

Mohit, Sunita, and Naresh Yadav’s mother were present in the house when the muder took place.

The wife of the deceased has registered a case of murder against unidentified persons at DLF phase-2 police station.
