Swine flu claimed another life in Gurgaon earlier this week taking the toll to four in the city. The victim was a 69-year-old patient, Kamla Devi, who died at Medanta on Monday but lab test confirmed swine flu only on Thursday, according to a source in the health department.

A conformation from the chief medical officer was not available despite repeated phone calls by HT.

According to sources, a young man has also been admitted at the civil hospital and is receiving treatment for swine flu.

From the four swine flu deaths only one was a resident of Gurgaon the rest were being treated in the city’s hospitals. The health department has confirmed 17 cases so far but over 1,800 have been classified as categories A and B.

However, more patients have been reporting flu-like symptoms but no one has tested positive for swine flu at the government facility yet. On a daily basis, the civil hospital receives over 300 patients at the separate swine flu OPD that has been built recently and two-three patients are classified in the less severe categories.
