Set up in June by the BJP government in Haryana to probe irregularities in Sector 83 to start with, this one-man commission was supposed to submit its findings within six months — by December 7.

The scope of inquiry was later expanded and the number of sectors was increased from one to 15.

The commission is investigating the licenses issued in four villages — Sihi, Shikohpur, Sikanderpur, and Kherki Daula. A number of residential sectors 36A, 75, 75A, 76,77,78,79, 79A, 79B, 81,81A, 82, 83, 84 and 85 have come up on the land acquired from these villages.

“I am heading a one-man commission of inquiry with limited staff which was initially bestowed with the responsibility of probing irregularities in just one sector. But now the work has increased multifold as the number of sectors has increased to over a dozen. The number of files and other information related to the probe also has gone up. In the view of all this, the present six-month inquiry period is not enough. I have asked for additional six month period for the inquiry to complete,” justice Dhingra said on Tuesday.

Justice Dhingra operates out of a two rooms set up in the Haryana Bhawan in New Delhi and his court was set up in a building which was earlier occupied by Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon in Civil Lines in Gurgaon.

“In Haryana Bhawan, I have a staff of four persons including a clerk, stenographer/typist, a law researcher and an office assistant. In Gurgaon I have two more persons,” Justice Dhingra said.
