Arjuna awardee Kharab, who remained the captain of the Indian hockey team, was on Monday transferred to Gurgaon.

Kharab is known for her golden goal in 2002 Commonwealth Games, which helped India bag the Gold in the Games. Her character also inspired the role of Komal Chautala in 2007 Bollywood movie ‘Chak De India’.

Kharab, who is posted as DSP (women) in Rewari, will resume charge in Gurgaon in a day or two.

Kharab had her first posting in the Gurgaon traffic police in 2011. She also served in Gurgaon as ACP Sadar in 2014 before her transfer to neighbouring Faridabad. She will join as ACP traffic against a vacant post.

“I have stopped practising but am in touch with hockey as a selector for the Indian women hockey team,” said Kharab.

The city also got another woman officer as deputy superintendent of police Tanya Singh was transferred from Haryana police academy, Madhuban, as assistant commissioner of police, DLF, Gurgaon. Singh replaces ACP Ramesh Pal who has been shifted as ACP of Pataudi.
