Gurgaon municipal corporation to hold camp to issue building plans, OCs

The move follows the introduction of the Haryana Building Code last year, to bring uniformity in construction and streamline building bylaws.

Earlier, owing to multiple building bylaws such as the Haryana Municipal Building Bylaws, 1982 and building rules in the Punjab Scheduled Roads and Controlled Areas Restriction of Unregulated Development Rules, 1965, many residents have been facing a long delay in procuring their building completion certificate, occupation certificate or both as there was a lack of laid out building bylaws and conformity.

Also, residents were unable to mortgage their properties or obtain property cards that assist in government and financial processes.

As per the Haryana Building Code, 2016, a completion or occupation certificate will be issued if the building has provisions for the disabled. This includes reservation of an entrance accessible to the differently abled that is equipped with proper signage, surface parking for two vehicles with a maximum distance of 30 metres from the building’s entrance, and a wheelchair accessible lift in a multi-storey building.

A completion certificate indicates that a building has been constructed as per the prescribed building bylaws. The occupancy certificate entitles people to reside in the completed building.

In a similar camp held last month, the MCG issued more than 200 building completion certificates and occupation certificates. A camp was also held on Tuesday.
