Officials of the crime branch said that the four of them have committed heinous crimes such as murder, dacoity, rape and robbery across Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

On January 28, two women were allegedly raped inside their residence, located outside Mandpura village in Pataudi, and also robbed of their valuables.

On the night of January 28, the police said that eight persons, including the four arrested, posing as police officials, entered their rooms located adjacent to a poultry farm near a factory in the village and gang-raped the two women for over four hours. They also cooked food, including a cooked chicken, before leaving the place, the police said.

The Gurgaon police had formed a team comprising inspector Jaswant and SI Bilaspur, Surender Kumar, to arrest the accused. It had also announced a reward of Rs1 lakh on the arrest of the gang.

“The accused were involved not only in the Mandpura case but also in several incidents in Bhangrola, Khandewala and Bhajghera. This is just the tip of the crimes that this loosely knit gang committed,” said Sandeep Khirwar, commissioner, Gurgaon police.

The police recovered a countrymade pistol from the accused. They are also suspecting that the men are part of a tribal gang that operates in north India, based on their modus operandi. They would recce the area in the day and strike during the night, posing as police or CBI officials, who wanted to search the premises.

“The accused revealed that they targeted houses along national highways, farmhouses and homes that were located in deserted areas. We have asked the police and other investigating officials from neighbouring districts to join the investigation so that their role in other crimes can also be determined,” said Sumit Kuhar, DCP, crime.

The police also said that the four accused were also involved in a murder in Manesar that took place in October 2016.
