Members of the much-awaited Haryana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (HRERA) would be appointed by October 31 and the body will be functional by the beginning of the next month. This was announced on Sunday by Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar, who was hearing complaints at the first Janta Darbar held in Gurgaon at John Hall in Civil Lines.

Khattar told a number of aggrieved buyers, who had come to lodge complaints against the developers in various parts of Gurgaon, that their issues would be resolved in a systematic manner by the authority. “We will ensure that the authority becomes functional from next month and hear complaints against developers. Appropriate action will be taken under HRERA, as the act is meant to streamline the real estate sector. One can file a complaint even if the developer is no registered under RERA,” he said.

The CM on Sunday heard around 50 complaints out of the 300 registered by the district administration, and directed that the rest be submitted to the DC, Gurgaon, who will file a report within 10 days.

After hearing the complaint regarding poor condition of Dr BR Ambedkar park in ward 13 of Farukhnagar, Khattar ordered that a fine of ₹1,000 per month be imposed on the officer responsible for this delay.

Khattar, while hearing a plea to dig new borewell in Bhora Kalan, announced that no new tube-wells will be allowed in dark zone.

Referring to the erection of gates in Sushant Lok, the CM directed the district administration to take immediate action to resolve the grievances of residents. He also said that Sushant Lok 1 and 2 would soon come under the jurisdiction of the MCG. “Any residential area or colony can be taken up by the MCG if more than 50% of residents request for it,” he added.

CM asks police to file FIRs without fear

Haryana chief minister directed the city police to register FIRs liberally, as the number of complaints did not matter. He also suspended a police official for failing to take appropriate action after a complainant alleged that the officer was threatening him.

“I want the police to take prompt action even if it is for the loss of a needle. It does not matter if fake FIRs are registered as these could be cancelled later,” said Khattar, while asking the Gurgaon police commissioner to suspend ASI Charan Singh. The complainant in this case had alleged that electricity meter and wire of his house was stolen and the police registered the case in this regard only after the intervention of the court. The investigating officer is alleged to have not been probing the case properly, which led to suspension order by the CM.
