A 34-year-old man, who “cheated” the Gurugram court at least eight times by using a fake name, fake Aadhaar Card and other documents as identity proof, was arrested on Tuesday.
The accused, identified as Jogender Kumar (34), hails from Rajasthan. He moved to the city three to four months back and obtained an Aadhaar card and other documents under the assumed name of Ashok Kumar against a local address.
He used these fake documents to stand as bail surety for people from whom he would take money, ASI Jagdish Chand said. The accused was arrested after a city magistrate became suspicious when Kumar stood surety for a bail application, as he had done so earlier.
An FIR was registered under sections 120B, 419 and 471 of the Indian Penal Code. Kumar was sent to a day’s police custody. During interrogation, Kumar told that a man from Sohna had made the fake documents for him.
“He stood as bail surety using these documents 8-10 times,” he said.
