The committee was set up by the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) to do a survey of industrial units and construction projects affected by daily traffic mess at Kherki Daula.

After repeated complaints from industrialists, the HSIIDC had held a board meeting at Chandigarh on January 25 to discuss the Kherki Daula toll issue. The meeting discussed the possibility of removing or shifting the toll plaza elsewhere else by paying liabilities to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). During the meeting, the HSIIDC agreed to the NHAI’s proposal to pay Rs 600 crore liabilities for the toll.

The industries continue to be afflicted by the traffic chaos on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway with long lines of vehicles on either sides of the toll plaza.

During normal working days, the toll plaza turns a bottleneck for commuters between Delhi and Jaipur.

Om Prakash, another industrialist, said, “On Friday, my clients got stuck at the toll plaza and reached Manesar one- hour late. The traffic mess is a daily phenomenon and we have been demanding removal of the toll plaza. We are surprised why the HSIIDC is not taking a strong step.”

Sudhir Rajpal, managing director, HSIIDC, said, “We will soon hold another meeting in this regard.”
