Pipeline work to affect water supply in Gurgaon on Monday

Thus, water will not be released from the Chandu Budhera water treatment plant (WTP) from 8am- 8pm on Monday, leading to disruption in water supply.

Officials of Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) said the situation might turn out to be worse than anticipated as shifting of pipelines is a tedious process and it may take them around 72 hours to restore normal water supply.

“An appeal has been made to the public to refrain from activities such as washing vehicles with pipes, watering their garden, and to use buckets for bathing instead of showers, as this will minimise water wastage. People should store water in containers and overhead tanks to minimise difficulties on Monday,” SS Rohilla, spokesperson for Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG), said.

It led to water supply from Chandu Budhera WTP being partially stopped, leading to disruption in supply to sectors 39, 47, 46 and 32.

Previously, on April 3 and February 13 as well, water supply from the water treatment plant had been stopped owing to the construction of the three underpasses.

Residents are fretting over the possible long disruption in water supply and many have informed water tanker agencies in advance for filling their tanks on Monday.

“I have guests arriving at my residence on Monday and they will be staying for a week. I have barely sufficient water supply for my needs. Hence, to avoid the possibility of water shortage, I have informed my local water tanker owner, who has agreed to send a tanker early in the morning,” Abdul Kazmi of Sector 37 said.
