Rs 1.5 lakh looted from shop of jailed gangster’s family

Four armed men made off with Rs 1.50 lakh from a liquor shop owned by a family member of jailed gangster Binder Gujjar on Tuesday night at Khandsa road, police said.

The incident hints waning terror of Gurgaon gangs. Binder is a dreaded name in the crime world of Gurgaon.

Police said Binder had transferred the shop to his brother Manish after he was jailed. Manish, a liquor trader, was gunned down on the night of October 17 in Gurgaon’s New Colony area. After the incident, the shop was transferred to another family member.

“We are trying to find out who is the owner of the shop now. The theft took place at about 10:30 pm and the suspects have been captured in CCTV camera footage,” inspector Vikram Singh, SHO, City police station, said.

Inspector Singh said the preliminary inquiry has hinted that the suspects came on bikes and waited outside the shop for some time. They brandished guns and took the staff at the liquor shop hostage and made off with the cash.

The gang of Binder Gujjar is a rival of Gadoli gang which was headed by slain gangster Sandeep Gadoli. Gadoli was shot in an alleged encounter at a Mumbai hotel on February 7, 2016. Gadoli’s family suspects the role of Binder in his killing. Several members of Gadoli family are accused in murder of Manish Gujjar.
