Patients who undergo an operation in March have greater survival chances, researchers say. A research based on almost 200,000 lung cancer patients revealed that those treated in the winter had a 33 per cent increased risk of dying.

A research based on almost 200,000 lung cancer patients revealed that those treated in the winter had a 33 per cent increased risk of dying.

Similar increases have been observed for other procedures as well, like heart bypass. U.S. researchers have linked this to seasonal variations in factors such as depression and lifestyle, the Daily Mail reported.

According to a study in the Journal of Interdisciplinary Cycle Research, March and April also see the most cold sores, with another spike in August.

Low immune defences may be the reason behind sores in spring, while sun exposure, which can also decrease the immune system’s strength, may be responsible in August.
