Cycling remains one of the most popular ways to exercise and get around. We get experts to explore its pros and cons.

Britney Spears recently joined several other cyclists at an event called Britney Spears’ “Piece of Me Charity Ride” in Boca Park, California, USA, to raise money for the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation. She reportedly completed a 45-minute cycling session on a stationary bicycle at the event. Britney’s stint has helped bring the spotlight on cycling once again as one of the most effective forms of exercise.

However, there are certain types of people who should avoid this form of exercising.

As cycling is a fun exercise, people often tend to overdo it. Shiraz Siddiqui, fitness trainer and co-founder of The Gene Box, Mulund (W), says, “People may cycle too much if they go overboard while practicing for competitions, triathlons or an event. Overexertion happens only during unplanned training sessions and if you’re not training under a professional,” he says.

Siddiqui adds that if you aren’t feeling well, have low immunity or have trouble sleeping, and feel fatigued or lethargic, then it’s a sign that you may be going overboard.
