The oldest Oscar nominee ever, legendary French filmmaker Agnes Varda, couldn’t attend the annual nominees luncheon, so she sent along a cardboard cutout of herself, and left Twitter in splits.

The Academy on Monday had their annual nominees luncheon in honour of all those who have been nominated for Oscars at the 90th Academy Awards. As per the norm, the nominees posed together for a group photograph as the batch of 2018, with one notable addition - filmmaker Agnes Varda, who could not make it to the event, so she sent a cardboard cutout of herself instead.

Shortly afterwards, several people on Twitter noticed the cutout of Agnes Varda - the legendary French filmmaker, 89, who became the oldest Oscar nominee for her documentary, Faces Places.

The Oscars will be held on March 4 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. It will be aired in India live on Star Movies and Star Movies Select on March 5.
