As Avengers: Infinity War continues its record-breaking streak at the box office, numbers reveal that India ranks among the film’s top territories in the world. Despite releasing in just 2000 screens in the country - roughly half of a big Bollywood movie - Marvel’s 19th movie has grossed over ₹200 crore in India, breaking records for Hollywood releases on every single day.

The Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor went on their own mission in Avengers: Infinity War.

According to Box Office Mojo’s weekend roundup of the film’s international business, Infinity War made $162 million in 54 territories, despite not having released in China, the world’s second biggest movie market yet. Interestingly, India finds itself in the film’s top 5 biggest contributors. Following South Korea ($69 million), UK ($67 million, Mexico ($48 million) and Brazil ($44 million), India comes in at number 5 ($35 million). These are unprecedented numbers for a Hollywood film in India, and Infinity War is all but guaranteed to end up eclipsing Jungle Book’s all-time record.

Infinity War is well paced to become the highest grossing entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Iron Man 3 ($1.2 billion), Black Panther ($1.3 billion), Avengers: Age of Ultron ($1.4 billion) and The Avengers ($1.5 billion) in touching distance.
