Ever since the poster for Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s upcoming film, Skyscraper, was revealed to the world, many marvelled at its awesomeness but many more were confused about how he would ever make that deadly jump. The action star has broken the rules of mathematics, physics, aerodynamics to accomplish what quite visibly looks like a very stupid thing to do and Twitter agrees in unison.
In the poster, The Rock is seen leaping off a crane and into a building several feet away. People claiming to be math geniuses (HT couldn’t verify their claims) have broken down the jump attempt in graphs and equations but still could not find a way for him to successfully make that jump.
“So I did some science. Assuming there is no jump-off (which seems to be optimal here), we can determine that the Rock would need to leave the platform at 12.7 metres per second (app 28 miles per hour). For the record, Usain Bolt’s fastest record speed is 27.4 mph,” a science-r wrote on Twitter.
