The Super Bowl trailer for Marvel’s upcoming extravaganza, Avengers: Infinity War, squeezed in a lot of superheroes into 30 seconds, but the final shot of the spot - an ominous look at the villain, Thanos - has people on Twitter speculating. Based on the scratches on Thanos’ face, they think the film will feature a cameo by Wolverine.

Disney, which owns Marvel Studios, recently took over 20th Century Fox, the studio that owns the rights to the X-Men franchise. This got fans of Marvel excited at the possibility of a crossover between the two franchises. Marvel is no stranger to this strategy - in 2016, they collaborated with Sony Pictures to bring Spider-Man, a character they did not own, to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Hugh Jackman, who played Wolverine for close to two decades on film, announced that 2017’s Logan - which has scored an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay - would be his final film as the character. The Marvel-Fox deal, valued at over $50 billion, is currently under review for a year.
