4 killed as car falls into river near Baira Siul dam in Himachal’s Chamba

All four occupants of the car died on the spot in the Churah subdivision late Saturday night.

Four people were killed when their car plunged from the Nakrod-Himgiri road into the Baira Siul river near a dam built on it in Himachal Pradesh's Chamba district, police said on Sunday.

The station house officer of Tissa and a fire brigade team are present at the site.

Operated by National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC), the Baira Siul dam is a 180 MW, run-of-the-river hydroelectric project located in Churah.

The four victims are reported to be from the Tikrigarh gram panchayat in the Churah sub-division. Official confirmation regarding their identities and the ownership of the vehicle is still awaited.
