“Tomorrow lakhs of Congress workers across the country will continue peaceful protests against the anti-youth Agnipath scheme & against Modi Govt’s vendetta politics targeting its leader Shri Rahul Gandhi, MP. A Congress delegation will also meet Honble Rashtrapati in the evening,” the party's communication head wrote in a tweet.

Earlier in the day, the grand old party held a 'Satyagraha' in the national capital in support of youth protesting against the Narendra Modi government's newly unveiled Agnipath scheme for a four-year contractual recruitment into the forces. Several top Congress leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi, AICC general secretary organisation KC Venugopal, party's leader in the Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, senior functionaries Harish Rawat, Salman Khurshid, Sachin Pilot, Deepender Hooda and Ajay Maken and Ramesh, participated in the 'Satyagraha' held at the Jantar Mantar.

Regarding Rahul Gandhi's questioning that the Congress has called the Modi government's vandetta politics, the party leadership has taken to the streets earlier this week when the Wayanad MP was quizzed by the Enforcement Directorate was three straight days. A large number of the party's top functionaries, including its chief ministers, were detained. Videos of protesting MPs being dragged by police personnel before being taken into preventive custody were shared by the party. Gandhi had sought a break from the questioning citing his mother Sonia Gandhi's hospitalisation over Covid-related issues. He will be quizzed again on Monday.

Meanwhile, the government has refused to budge from its position on the Agnipath issue amid vehement calls for its rollback. The government has also said said all Agnipath aspirants would have to take a pledge that they did not participate in any violence that was witnessed in several parts of the country over the past few days.have been under
