Highlights: Cyclone Fani to make landfall in Puri on May 3, says IMD official

In view of cyclone storm Fani intensifying into a ‘Severe Cyclonic Storm’ over the south-east and adjoining south-west Bay of Bengal, the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) is on high alert to render necessary humanitarian assistance, reported news agency. The Indian navy has prepared with additional divers, doctors, inflatable rubber boats and relief material that include food, tents, clothes, medicines and blankets.Cyclone Fani, that has been gaining strength in the south-east Bay of Bengal, is likely to intensify into a very severe cyclonic storm in the next 36 hours, the weather department said on Tuesday. It is expected to impact east coast states such as Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal.
