Double murder of Sikh pilgrims creates ripples in Uttarakhand

Shock and anger gripped Gobindghat, base for revered Sikh shrine Hemkund Sahib, after bodies of two women were found in a pool of blood at a hotel on Tuesday morning, police said.

According to the reports, a family of three from Ambala —one male named Jasveer, his wife and 17-year-old daughter — checked in the hotel on Monday evening. On Tuesday morning at around 4am, hotel staff noticed Jasveer leaving the hotel. Later, staff found out that the room was locked no one was responding. They informed the police, which then found bodies of both the wife and daughter.

“Both the ladies have a deep cut on their necks and the husband is absconding,” Tripti Bhatt, Chamoli superintendent of police, told Hindustan Times. She further said Ambala police had been informed about the incident and teams have been formed to nab husband, who is apparently being seen as the accused.
