The CBI asked Chowdary to appear before its Bengaluru office on Friday for questioning on the alleged default in payment of 71 crore to Andhra Bank by Best and Crompton Engineering Projects Limited, a Chennai-based company promoted by Chowdary.

The CBI had registered a case against the company in 2017 and named company managing director K Srinivas Kalyan Rao and four other directors as accused. They were charged with criminal conspiracy, cheating and forgery among others.
