Ex-village head stabbed to death, attacker lynched in UP

The former village head was attacked with knives and he died on the spot.

A former village head was stabbed to death by some persons during a wedding function in Uttar Pradesh’s Azamgarh, following which a mob lynched one of the attackers, the police said today.

Shyampyare Pasi was having dinner during the function in Ledaimadpur village when some persons attacked him with knives. He died on the spot.

The police suspect Pasi, who had a criminal background, was killed over old enmity.

While two of the attackers fled the spot, one was caught and beaten to death by villagers, they said.

A huge posse of police personnel has been deployed in the village to prevent any untoward incident.
