Officer In-charge of Sahjanwa police station Sanjay Kumar said Surati Devi’s daughter Anita in her complaint claimed that her brother Makardhawaj Yadav also pierced his mother’s eyes with some pointed object after killing her before fleeing the spot.
A 30-year-old man allegedly strangulated his mother late Monday night in Sonbarsa village about 20 km from Gorakhpur after coming to know that she had sold a plot of land to fund his father’s treatment, police said on Tuesday.
Officer In-charge of Sahjanwa police station Sanjay Kumar said Surati Devi’s daughter Anita in her complaint claimed that her brother Makardhawaj Yadav also pierced his mother’s eyes with some pointed object after killing her before fleeing the spot.
“A case was registered against Makardhawaj Yadav, his wife Sumitra Devi and his brother-in-law Basant Yadav. All of them have been arrested,” he said.
“The accused, Makardhawaj Yadav allegedly tied the hands of his mother Surati Devi, 55, and beat her brutally with an iron rod before strangulating her,” Kumar said.
Police said the victim and her husband had been living with their daughter. On Monday, Lolai demanded money from his mother who told him that she did not have any as all the money, including that she got after selling a plot of land, had been spent in her husband’s treatment.
This led to an argument between the woman and her son. Later in the night, he attacked his mother when she was asleep.
