Hurricane Irma: India issues 24-hour helpline in Kingston

India opened the helpline after a warning was issued amid the possibility of Category 5 Hurricane Irma hitting the region.

India on Sunday issued a 24-hour helpline after Jamaica’s Kingston was put on ‘Hurricane’ alert.

India opened the helpline after a warning was issued amid the possibility of Category 5 Hurricane Irma hitting the region.

The National Hurricane Center forecasts that Irma will remain a powerful storm throughout the week.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Raveesh Kumar took to twitter and shared helpline numbers and e-mail ids.

“24x7 helpline at High Commission of India, Kingston,” he tweeted.
