IAF Wing Commander accused of rape by woman Flying Officer; FIR registered

After the complaint, the FIR under "relevant sections of the law" was filed at Budgam police station in central Kashmir, a senior police officer said.

A woman Flying Officer of Indian Air Force has accused a Wing Commander-rank officer, of rape, resulting in a first information report (FIR) being filed at Budgam police station in central Kashmir, PTI reported. Both the IAF officer are currently stationed in Srinagar. "After the complaint, the FIR under "relevant sections of the law" was filed at Budgam police station in central Kashmir on Saturday," a senior police officer told PTI.

"We are aware of the case. The Air Force Station in Srinagar was approached by the local Budgam police station on the subject. We are fully cooperating towards this case," a senior IAF official was quoted by PTI as saying.

What junior IAF officer alleged?

According to a NDTV report, the woman officer alleged she had been suffering harassment, sexual assault and mental torture for the past two years. HT cannot independently verify this information.In her complaint, the woman claimed that during the New Year party at the officer's mess on December 31, the Wing Commander reportedly asked her if she received a gift. On denial, the Wing Commander told the junior officer that the gifts were in his room and allegedly took her there. According to the woman officer, her superior allegedly forced her into oral sex and molested her. The woman claimed she asked him to stop and resist before pushing him and running away. The Flying Officer claimed that when she visited the office post the incident, the Wing Commander reportedly behaved as if nothing happened. The victim said she was guided by two other women officers to file a complaint. According to the NDTV report, a Colonel-rank officer was ordered to probe the incident but the Wing Commander was made to sit down with the woman to record the statements.

The woman claimed she objected to the senior officer's presence and later the investigation was closed to "hide mistakes of administration".
