An IndiGo flight from Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow, carrying 151 passengers — including Samajwadi Party lawmaker Dimple Yadav — to Delhi aborted takeoff on Saturday morning, an official aware of the development said.

The aircraft, flight 6E-2111, had already begun accelerating down the runway around 11am when the pilot initiated an emergency brake, halting the plane after detecting a technical issue involving insufficient engine thrust, an airport official, requesting anonymity, said.
Passengers on board, including Mainpuri MP (Member of Parliament) and wife of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Dimple Yadav, were safely deboarded, and alternate arrangements were made to send them to Delhi on another flight.
“The safety of our passengers is our highest priority. The aircraft was stopped as a precaution after a potential issue was detected during the takeoff roll,” IndiGo said in an official statement.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has taken note of the incident and has sought a detailed report. “Preliminary information suggests that the issue was related to the aircraft not receiving the required thrust to lift off — a critical phase in any flight. The pilot, adhering to safety protocols, informed Air Traffic Control (ATC) and brought the aircraft back to Bay No. 07 via the taxiway,” an official/statement said.
According to aviation experts, an “aborted takeoff” is a standard emergency protocol where the pilot halts the aircraft during its acceleration phase due to an unexpected technical snag or warning signal from the cockpit. In this case, the timely action likely prevented a potential mishap.
