The Bombay high court on Tuesday granted interim stay till November 24 on the seven-day ban imposed by I&B ministry on health and wellness channel Care World TV for allegedly showing “objectionable” content.
Hearing a petition filed by the channel challenging the ban imposed by the ministry, justice MS Karnik granted interim relief for a fortnight and asked the government to file a reply by November 23.
The vacation bench also asked the petitioner to move a regular bench on November 24 to get the matter listed before it for further hearing. New Delhi: The Supreme Court decided on Tuesday to hear next month the petitions filed by NDTV challenging the government’s direction to its Hindi news channel NDTV India to go off air for a day, a decision which has been put on hold. The court decided to post the matter on December 5 after NDTV’s counsel Fali S Nariman and Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi said there was no real urgency as the decision to ban the transmission on November 9.
