The accused was identified as Sharfin Sebastian, a native of Ezhumattoor. He was remanded to judicial custody after being produced before a magistrate.

The arrest was made by the Perumpetty police in coordination with the District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force (DANSAF) as part of the state police’s ongoing anti-drug campaign, ‘Operation Toofan’.

The inspector of the Perumpetty police station said the accused claimed to be the chief of an outfit called the ‘Anti-Drugs Movement of Nation’.

“He claims the outfit operated for years in Kochi and that he was the state president. He claims to have identification cards for the same. We are probing,” the officer said.

Police said 1.5 grams of MDMA was recovered from a concealed compartment inside a book at his house. Accessories allegedly used for consuming drugs were also seized during the search.
