Militants attacked the native residence of a Jammu and Kashmir minister in Anantnag district on Monday, but no damage was caused, police said in Srinagar.

The militants fired at the security forces guarding the residence of roads and buildings minister Abdul Rehman Veeri in his native Veeri village in Bijbehara area of Anantnag, a police official said.

The minister was not in the house at the time of the attack as he stays in the official accommodation in Srinagar.

The official said the security forces on duty there retaliated, forcing the militants to flee.

There was no damage, the official said.
