Trinamool Congress lawmaker Mahua Moitra alleged on Thursday that the Bharatiya Janata Party interfered when West Bengal Police travelled to Noida to arrest a man accused of circulating alleged fabricated chats of the Member of Parliament from Krishnanagar.

Moitra posted three videos—4.18, 2.38 and 3.09 minutes long—which purportedly showed a man standing next to a woman and having a conversation. Later, he is purportedly seen as dialling another person.
Bengal Police have alleged that Noida Police obstructed them when they tried to arrest the accused in a Noida Sector 110 high-rise , leading to the escape of the social media influencer. Noida Police have denied the allegation.
“Everything is caught on video, so Noida police should stop lying,” Moitra said on X.
“A team from Nadia District, West Bengal police arrived at Police Station Phase-2, Noida, to execute NBW) issued by the Hon’ble Court of the CJM and sought assistance in this regard.”
“The West Bengal police team conducted a raid at the concerned flat. However, the wanted accused, Surajit Dasgupta, was not found present at the spot. His wife was informed about the warrant. The surrounding area was also searched and inquiries were made regarding his presence, but no significant information was obtained,” a statement from Noida Police said.
In response, the Krishnanagar District police said in a statement, “Our team, with the full cooperation of UP police, executed the warrant and detained the accused on February 10. Thereafter, following external communications by certain political functionaries, the team was taken to the local police station and lawful proceedings were interrupted, enabling the accused to abscond. Efforts to apprehend him continue.”
