The Lok Sabha has been adjourned till March 5 after MPs from Andhra Pradesh stormed into the Well of the House demanding special package for their state, but the Rajya Sabha continued the discussion on the Union Budget 2018-19.
On Thursday, both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha discussed Union budget 2018-19 with the Opposition targeting the government over agrarian crisis, unemployment and other issues. Finance minister Arun Jaitley refuted Congress leader P Chidambaram’s charges on economic policy, saying structural reform may pose momentary difficulty initially but will prove to be beneficial in the long run.

12.04pm: Rajya Sabha chairman Venkiah Naidu adjourns the House till 2.30pm amid uproar by Andhra Pradesh members.
12.01pm: As Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha resumes proceedings, TDP members storm into the Well of the houses with placards to demand special package for the state.
11.08am: Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are adjourned till 12 noon amid over uproar.
Speaker Sumitra Mahajan straightway takes up the Question House as the proceedings commenced. Soon members of the TDP crowd the Well raising slogans.
“This cannot happen everyday,” the Speaker tells the protesting members. However, they do not relent following which the Speaker adjourns the House till noon.
11.06am: In Rajya Sabha, Samajwadi Party member Naresh Agarwal urges Chairman Venkaiah Naidu to ask for an apology from minister of state Kiren Rijiju over his Facebook post on Congress’ Renuka Chowdhury.
11.01am: As Lok Sabha begins its proceedings, MPs from Andhra Pradesh go to the well of the house to demand special package for the state.
10.50am: TDP MPs protest near Mahatma Gandhi statue in Parliament demanding special package for Andhra Pradesh.
TDP MP Dr Sivaprasad stages a protest outside the Parliament in a unique way. Dressed in a wig and carrying a whip, a sword and a lemon, he said he’s Lord Venkateshwara come to warn the government of the consequences of not fulfilling the promises made to Andhra Pradesh. He says the congress was decimated in Andhra for not fulfilling its promise and he has come to caution the BJP.
10.52am: Parliamentary affairs minister Ananth Kumar says after the BJP parliamentary party meeting: “Amit Shah said Rahul ji’s style of politics is undemocratic, hence such kind of disruptions during the speech of PM Modi.”
The government has spoken about the main points of the Rafale jet purchase deal and will speak about this more, but the BJP chief expresses concern as to how helpful it will be for the country to debate over each component of the deal, says Ananth Kumar.
9.41am: BJP chief Amit Shah and other leaders arrive for the parliamentary party meeting.
8.53am: Congress’ Renuka Chowdhury moves privilege motion in Rajya Sabha against minister of state Kiren Rijiju over his Facebook post, news agency ANI reports. On Wednesday, the Prime Minister took a dig at the Congress leader over her laughter at his claim that the idea of Aadhaar was conceptualised during the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.
