Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday hit out at the Centre, accusing it of making empty slogans and acronyms, and on the other hand, asking soldiers to buy their own clothes and shoes.
Gandhi was referring to a media report which said that the Indian Army will cut down its supplies from state-owned ordnance factories by almost 50%.
“MAKE (empty slogans and useless acronyms) IN INDIA....meanwhile, make our soldiers buy their own clothes & shoes,” Gandhi tweeted.
The report says that the move will ensure the money is instead spent on procuring adequate stock of ammunition for a short war.

{{/usCountry}}The report says that the Centre has not provided funds for emergency procurements of ammunition and spares. But due to this, supplies of soldiers’ uniforms and shoes are likely to be hit and soldiers will now have to spend their own money to buy uniforms from civilian markets.
