Suspecting infidelity, Haryana man murders wife, slits 4-year-old son’s neck

After killing his wife and son, the accused went to a railway crossing near the village to commit suicide but some villagers overpowered him and took him to the local police station.

In a gruesome double murder, a 30-year-old man smashed his wife’s head with a hammer and then slit his four-year-old son’s neck with an electric cutter at Haripura village in Haryana’s Fatehabad district on Sunday.

Police said accused Shravan Kumar, a plumber, reportedly used to have frequent fights with his 25-year-old wife Rekha Rani as he suspected infidelity.

After killing his wife and son Dhruv, the accused went to a railway crossing near Mehuwala village to commit suicide by throwing himself in front of a train, but some villagers who chased him, overpowered him and took him to the local police station, deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Umed Singh said.

Singh said the incident took place at about 5 am on Sunday. After committing the crime, the accused informed his younger brother Vikram about the matter, he said. The brother lives in the same town,

“We have arrested the accused and registered a case of murder against him, on a complaint lodged by his brother,” he said.

Police sent the bodies of the deceased to the local civil hospital for postmortem.
