Unable to get treatment for sick kids, mother chokes them to death, consumes poison

The woman was rushed to a hospital and her condition is stable.

Feeling dejected over the prolonged illness of her children, a 25-year-old woman on Sunday choked them to death and consumed poison in RK Puram area in Kota, the police said.

The woman was distressed for not being able to get good treatment for her three-year-old daughter and one-and-a-half-year-old son, Shokat Ali, circle in-charge, RK Puram police station said.

She also had a heated argument with her husband before taking the extreme step, police said.

The woman was rushed to a hospital and her condition is stable, they said.

A case has been registered against the woman under relevant sections of IPC, Ali said.

The woman later told investigating officer Abdul Rasheed that her children had been suffering from some prolonged disease with no cure in sight, and that she would often have arguments with her husband over his inability to provide better treatment to the kids.

“Eventually, I decided to kill myself and my kids so that we can get rid of the disease for good,” she said.
