A woman was allegedly raped by a senior Tripura Civil Service officer when she went to his residence in South Ramnagar, police said on Tuesday.

An FIR was lodged against Panna Ahmed on Monday on the basis of the woman’s complaint, and a search warrant has been issued against him since he is absconding, Superintendent of police (Police Control) Uttam Bhowmick said.

According to the FIR, Ahmed, a joint director of sports and youth affairs department allegedly raped the woman when she went to meet him at his South Ramnagar residence here for renting rooms earlier in the morning.
The accused also reportedly threatened her of dire consequences if she disclosed the incident, they said.
