12 killed, 20 injured as bus falls into U'khand river

Twelve people, including six women and a minor, were killed and 20 others injured when a bus fell into the Nahal river due to heavy fog at Gadarpur area in this district, officials said today.

The crowded bus, which was coming from a religious ceremony in Haryana, skidded off the road due to dense fog late last night, they said.

The injured have been admitted to Rudrapur district hospital, while two of them who are in serious condition have been referred to the Haldwani hospital in Nainital district, the officials said.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been established, they added.
