A 14-year-old minor was allegedly raped by her 19-year-old neighbour who dragged her into his house and then dumped her in a box. The incident was reported from Masuri area on NH-24 on Tuesday.
In their complaint, the girl’s family has alleged that Kanhaiya Singh raped her and then shut her in a box after several area residents and the girl’s family gathered outside his house.
“We have lodged an FIR under sections of rape and the accused has been arrested. The girl was found in a box in an unconscious state. The box was unlocked. We have sent her for medical examination,” senior superintendent of police (SSP) Raghubir Lal said.
After initial investigations, police have claimed to have recovered several letters that were exchanged between the girl and Singh and concluded that she was friendly with him.
“Initial investigations revealed that the girl had gone to Singh’s house. But her brother and his friends came to know about this and gathered outside his home. She was trapped in the house. When her brother inquired about her from the accused, they had an altercation and police was called,” Lal said.
When the police searched the house, they found her unconscious in an unlocked box. So, the victim could have escaped from the box on her own.

{{/usCountry}}“We are investigating into a love angle. If the medical report confirms sexual assault on her, the accused would face severe consequences as the girl is a minor. We are waiting for the report,” the SSP added.
