While 16 incidents were of minor nature, a major fire engulfed a shop at Sector 26 Grain Market in Chandigarh last night, causing considerable damage but no loss of life was reported, they said.

Meanwhile, two shops were gutted in a blaze in Bhiwani, Haryana, though no loss of life was reported.
