Thirty-nine striking employees of Uttarakhand civic bodies were arrested here today on charges of breaching peace as their strike in protest against delay in implementation of pay panel recommendations entered the fourth day.

The police arrested the employees from Gandhi Park area where they were staging dharna and raising slogans against the government demanding the implementation of Sixth Pay Commission recommendations.
The staff of Dehra Dun Municipal Corporation, Jal Sansthan, Mussoorie Dehra Dun Development Authority and Panchayats has been on indefinite strike since Monday disrupting the normal life across the state due to water scarcity and growing garbage dump.
