Upset over being repeatedly transfered, a Scheduled Tribe IAS officer has sought premature retirement, accusing the Raman Singh government of harassment.
BPS Netam has written to the General Administration Department seeking early retirement. “I am irritated and disturbed as the state government has frequently transferred me. Of late, it has been as many as five times in a span of two years,” he said on Thursday. The allegation — the first of its kind in Chhattisgarh — has created a furore in bureaucratic circles.
When contacted, Netam blamed the government of using him as an experiment. “I have always been given postings where several irregularities had taken place and massive embezzlement existed. But as administrator, I have proved myself and there has never been any scam during my tenure,” he said, adding that he was no longer interested in continuing in government service.
A government spokesperson, meanwhile, told HT the state might modify Netam’s latest transfer order.
